Nepal will receive the amount as per the emission reduction purchase agreement signed between Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment Dr. Vishwanath Oli and Country Director of the World Bank Faris Adad-Zervos on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry, Nepal is receiving the amount for reducing carbon emissions through forest conservation. In addition, community based forest management reform, transfer of consumer rights for national forests to local communities, integrated land use planning reform, promotion of alternative energy sources and capacity building of protected areas will be enhanced. .
Nepal has become the fifth country in Asia-Pacific and the 12th in the world to sign such an agreement with the bank.
