Safe Internet Day 2021 Is Being Celebrated
Safe Internet Day is being celebrated in more than 170 countries, including Nepal, on 27 Magh this year with the aim of making the Internet safer for children and youth.
Celebrated every year, the day has helped raise awareness about online risks and safe internet for children and youth, and promote collaboration and coordination among organizations working with children.
ChildSafNet, an organization working to protect children and youth from online abuse and exploitation, has been celebrating Safe Internet Day in Nepal since 2019 and has been collaborating and coordinating with partner organizations.
According to Anil Raghuwanshi, Founder Chairman of ChildSafNet, a National Coordinating Committee has been formed to celebrate Safe Internet Day 2021 in Nepal.
The secretariat of this committee is played by ChildSafnet and other members of the committee include Nepal Police Cyber Bureau, UNICEF, Plan International Nepal, Yuvalaya, CWIN Nepal, Saathi, ActionAid Nepal, Veda: Creative Organization, Lu Niva Child Concern Group, Umbrella Organization Nepal and Child Environment Center. There are committees.
Raghuwanshi said, "This day provides an opportunity for families and schools, police, government agencies, the private sector, the media, organizations and other stakeholders to work together to keep children and youth safe online and effectively implement cyber security policies."
To raise awareness about safe internet, organizations working for children plan to celebrate Safe Internet Day by producing and promoting appealing videos, podcasts, YouTube blogs, social media posts, digital posters and child-friendly communication materials. In addition, training and panel discussions on cyber security will be conducted.
The main event of Secure Internet Day will be organized on February 9 and other programs on cyber security will be conducted throughout the year.
On behalf of the National Coordinating Committee, ChildSafeNet works with children, youth, parents, schools, colleges, government, police, legal practitioners, the private sector, national and international NGOs, UN agencies, the media and other responsible bodies to participate in and support Safe Internet Day events.
